ABOUT

Efisio Colandrea is an Italian artist and architect based in Munich.

Born in Naples in 1988, he moved in 2012 to Munich, where he is currently working as architect and painter.

His work combines his native heritage of bright landscapes and millenary traditions with influences of German Expressionism as well as post-war Abstract Expressionism, inspired by artists such as Cy Twombly, Willem de Kooning and Mark Rothko.

By focusing on the creative gesture and the spiritual connection established between the artist and the artwork, Efisio seeks to extract the essence of his emotions in order to turn their specificity into a universal concept. The work evokes memories suspended between abstract and figurative images removing a direct connection with the immediate message of the work and opening it to infinite possibilities of interpretation.
